What do you have against vocoders? Autotune, sure... but vocoders?! They are freaking great! They don't just have to be all "make my voice into a robot"... you can mix noise with acoustic sounds... let running water sounds engage melodic oscillators... let wind or random noise or a freaking Oskar Sala record 'play' my mellotron. It really is a great instrument/tool/toy.
